Traditional Chinese Medicine
– Please allow up to an hour for an initial consultation, and 30 minutes for follow up consultation
– Please wear loose fitting clothes, though a patient gown can be provided
– A full medical history is taken focusing on both acute concerns and chronic disorders in line with the diagnostic technique of 10 questions
– Please bring any scans, recent blood tests or medications with you
– Your pulse will be felt and your tongue looked at to determine the root cause of your concerns
– Other tests may be carried out such as orthopaedic tests and auscultation
– Treatment will be decided upon, with the patient, consent obtained and carried out
– After your treatment, you will be given post procedure instructions to take home and a treatment plan will be discussed
Treatment types
Acupuncture
If acupuncture is decided, you will lay down on treatment table and kept warm with towels or blankets. The skin is cleansed with an alchohol wipe to remove surface bacterias and acupuncture needles will be inserted at various locations for various times, up to 30 minutes. The needles used in this clinic, are made from stainless steel, and are single use. Sizes range from 0.14mm to 0.22mm in width, thus making it very easy to receive.
Cupping
If cupping is decided upon, you will lay down on treatment table and kept warm with towels or blankets. Fire will be placed into a special glass cup to burn out the oxygen and create a vacuum, flame blown out and cup placed on skin. Cups will be in place for 15-20 minutes. Cups are then washed thoroughly and let to air dry between uses.
Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine
If herbal treatment is decided upon, a prescription will be written and either filled on site with patent capsules, or you will take it to our local dispensary in Footscray, for fresh herbs. Full instructions on how to make and take your herbs will be given to you at your appointment.
